HELMET Leader Helps BUSH Frontman Make The Best Album Of His Career
June 10, 2004HELMET leader Page Hamilton has spoken to Billboard.com about his songwriting and production role work on the solo debut album from BUSH frontman Gavin Rossdale.
"I think people are going to be excited and surprised when they hear it," Hamilton said. "To take nothing away from BUSH — they did what they did — but they weren't the tightest band in the world. It was pretty much about Gavin's voice, so that's what we focused on. I tried to strip the arrangements down, cut the fat and make things exciting. I really think we succeeded.
"It's not bragging but I think it's going to be the best album he's ever made," Hamilton added.
Chris Traynor, who plays guitar in the new incarnation of HELMET and previously toured with BUSH, has also participated in sessions for the album.
Rossdale's as-yet-untitled solo CD is due later in the year via Interscope.
